Collaboration Café
Purpose
This Collaboration Café aims to reflect on the lessons learned in this course related to how nursing history shapes nursing’s present and future.
Course Outcomes
This Collaboration Café enables the student to meet the following course outcomes:
- CO 1: Describe persons and events in nursing history from the early years through the 19th century related to leadership and care provision. (PO 2)
- CO 2: Apply lessons from nursing history to today’s professional nursing practice. (PO 4)
- CO 3: Identify persons and events in nursing history impacting evidence-based practice from the 20th century and 21st century. (PO 8)
- CO 4: Analyze the impact of nursing history on professional nursing roles today and in the future. (PO 7)
Due Date
Graded Collaboration Cafés in Weeks 1-7 are due Sunday at 11:59 p.m. MT. For courses with Week 8 graded Collaboration Cafés, the Collaboration Café will close on Saturday at 11:59 p.m. MT. All Week 8 Collaboration Café requirements must be met by this deadline.
Total Points Possible
This Collaboration Café is worth a total of 50 points.

Directions
Collaboration Café: Reflect on Knowledge
Step 1: From ancient history to today, reflect on your journey through this course over the past eight weeks.
Step 2: Answer all questions below with explanations and details that indicate thoughtful reflection. No scholarly sources are required.
Paragraph one: How do you envision using the lessons learned from this course as a baccalaureate-prepared nurse? Consider all you have learned during this course. What specific week of content or lesson profoundly impacted you, and how will you apply the lessons you have learned to your nursing practice?
Paragraph two: Examine the following program outcomes. Select one and reflect on how your learning in the course helped you achieve that outcome.
PO 2: Demonstrates leadership and collaboration with consumers and other healthcare providers in providing care and/or delegating responsibilities for health promotion, illness prevention, health restoration, health maintenance, and rehabilitative activities.
PO 4: Integrates clinical judgment in professional decision-making and implementation of the nursing process.
PO 7: Practices in established professional roles consistent with entry-level BSN graduates to provide cost-effective, quality healthcare to consumers in structured and unstructured settings.
PO 8: Incorporates evidence-based practice in the provision of professional nursing care to individuals, families, aggregates, and communities.

- Communicate Professionally: Communicates professionally on all posts.
- Communicate clearly and concisely.
- Communicate respectfully, civilly, and caringly.
- Communicate with minimal errors in English grammar, spelling, syntax, and punctuation.
- Participate: Participates during the assigned week. Students are expected to meet the minimum participation requirement described below. A 10% point deduction will be earned for not posting at least two (2) times on at least two (2) different days during the assigned week.
- Post in the Collaboration Café at least two times.
